FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS IT LESS EXPENSIVE TO HAVE MY FURNITURE RE-UPHOLSTERED INSTEAD OF BUYING NEW?

This is completely dependant upon the piece of furniture in question. If your furniture can be replaced very cheaply then it’s likely that re-upholstery will be more costly. However, if your furniture is of a good quality and is something that you love and fits your home perfectly, then reupholstery is a perfect solution. It is worthwhile making the investment in your furniture and is far better for the environment than sending to landfill. Our turnaround times are now quicker than most wholesale furniture retailers.

HOW DO I OBTAIN A QUOTE FOR RE-UPHOLSTERY?

Your initial enquiry can be made by telephone, email or preferably using our online enquiry form. Please send us photographs and dimensions of your furniture including pictures with all cushions removed.

We aim to respond within one working day and will provide you with an approximate estimate for labour and sundries and an approximate amount of fabric required based on your photographs. We will also suggest the nearest available date to carry out your re-upholstery.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF RE-UPHOLSTERY, AND CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Please refer to our ‘Process’ page which provides in-depth detail of our process, from quotation and choosing fabric through to what happens in our workshop and redelivery of your beautifully transformed items.

With regards to the actual process of ‘re-upholstery’, your furniture will always be stripped back to bare frame before recovering to ensure smooth lines and a professional finish. We then fix any broken springs, replace any worn webbing and fix any problems with the wooden frame. All of this will be included in our quotation, unless we uncover something that we were not anticipating. This will always be discussed with you prior to us undertaking additional works.

HOW LONG WILL MY UPHOLSTERY JOB TAKE?

This is dependant upon the nature of the job that we are undertaking for you. We will give you an estimated timeframe and will arrange redelivery of the item once completed. We will keep you well informed throughout the process.  We can undertake time sensitive jobs however there may be a surcharge for this service, which will be included in your quotation.

DO YOU UNDERTAKE CONTRACT AND COMMERCIAL WORK AS WELL AS DOMESTIC?

Yes we certainly do. Please refer to our contract and commercial page for more information.

DO YOU SUPPLY FABRIC?

Yes we do. We work with multiple suppliers including Warwick, KOBE, Romo, Clarke & Clarke and Villa Nova. We are always happy to guide you in your fabric choices and can provide free of charge samples.

CAN I GET FABRIC SAMPLES?

Yes, we can obtain samples for all of our fabrics direct from our suppliers. These samples will be delivered directly to your home for you to see in situ. We are mindful to not stock samples on site to prevent over-ordering and over consumption. Please see our sustainability policy for more information on this.

CAN I CHOOSE A MIX OF FABRICS TO HAVE MY FURNITURE RE-UPHOLSTERED OR DOES IT HAVE TO BE THE SAME ONE?

Yes, if you wanted us to use two or three different fabrics then this is something that we can accommodate but there may be a surcharge for this which would be clearly stipulated in your quotation.

IF I’VE PURCHASED FABRIC FROM ELSEWHERE, WOULD HERITAGE UPHOLSTERY STILL RE-UPHOLSTER MY CHAIRS?

We have no objection to using your own fabric, however we would always suggest that you show us a sample and check its suitability before you purchase it. You must also confirm that it meets the relevant Fire Retardancy Regulations and have the paperwork to support this. We reserve the right to charge a surcharge for working with customer supplied fabric and ask that you thoroughly check the fabric for flaws before we receive it.

CAN YOU ADVISE US ON THE FIRE REGULATIONS REGARDING OUR FURNITURE?

Yes we certainly can and we have extensive experience within this field. All fabric and foam that we source and supply complies to the relevant Fire and Safety Regulations.
